Good Old Days Vl

The childrens boating pond, well known in the 60’s has long gone. By the 1990’s the pond itself was a rather sterile part of the park with little greenery and a border of concrete and path as can be seen in the first picture.

As you can see today the same area is VERY green and the Friends of Sandall Park have tried for three years to make this area into a ‘bog garden’ and a haven for different species of wildlife.

Unfortunately most of the effort have been thwarted by wildlife of a different nature – vandals and thieves have persistently destroyed and stolen plants and shrubbery planted in the area. We will have another go this October and if you like to assist us please feel free to contact us.
