Cygnet Killed………….

What on earth is going on? Last week we had problems where the wildlife was spooked – in fact for a short time all the wildlife left the lake area altogether.

Two adult black swans died during this period, albeit one appeared to have died from natural causes.

The latest blow to the park and its visitors is the news that one of the four cygnets has been killed. Its injuries suggest that it had been attacked by a dog or a fox. Yes we have photographs as part of our evidence gathering procedures but they are not appropriate for this web site (or any other for that matter).

Again we make a plea for further information. Something strange is happening in the park and we are struggling to put our fingers on what it is.

Anon,

No. Another one which is strange because if one was going to get caught by by a dog/fox I would have put money on that one (sadly).

Yours is still hanging on. He’s still got a bad leg and the RSPCA have been down quite a few times but he ‘does runner’ over to the island. We keep getting repeated calls from people reporting that his leg is injured. All we can do is hope that the RSPCA can catch him.

We would be greatful for any info on the ground as to what is actually happening – something is not right.
