Golf Course Project – Launch Date

Sunday 6th September 2009 – Sandall Park

By the 6th of September the finishing touches should have been made to the golf course project.

Over the last ten months the Leylandii trees have come down, fitness equipment has been installed, six picnic benches installed, six litter bins sited, six dog bins installed, 20 bird boxes put in place and numerous amounts of plants and bulbs planted. Three picnic benches and the fitness equipment now have ash paths leading to them to assist wheelchair and pushchair users. (Phew – did we really do ALL that!)

We have decided that the launch of this area that has been funded by the National Lottery, Community Spaces and Groundwork will take place on the 6th September and coincide with the Aurora 5km run in the park. The start and finish will be on the old golf course site and showcase what has been achieved.

Friends of Sandall Park will be marshalling the event and will also have a display tent showing our work. It would be great to see many of our supporters there – turn up to support the runners, take part in the run or just meet our team. Festivities will start at 10am and the run will start at 10.30am.
