Well done Sandall Park. My 3 grandchildren had a great time in the park on Friday afternoon. They played on all the apparatus in the play area for about 2 hours in a warm spring afternoon. The play area was full of toddlers with mainly grandparents supervising and they all seemed to have a jolly time. All the pieces of equipment were in use and the area was clean and tidy. carry on the good work.
I have just read on the notice board that angling is due to cease as from 01/04/10 I feel this is a great shame and that the angling needs to be managed a little better rather that banned from the lake. I was there the other day andy friend had 2 fantastic mirror carp out and a small croud of amazed kids soon gathered. fishing is a positive activity for the youth of today and if supervised is a great hobby. I visit the park most days with my son (10 months) and fish the lake whenever possible.
like u say I feel this is a great shame and wish there was more I could do to prevent this from happening. I would even be willing to manage the fishing myself as I bow know the lake very well and the previous management rarely visited the lake and so people were free to do a they pleased. a few enforced rules like a maximum of 2 rods barbless hooks with maximum size of 12 ( this way even if a bird did manage to get snagged it would be very easy for them to shake the hook themselves) and all children under 14 to be supervised by an adult would be a huge help in both encouraging this safe hobby and protecting the wildlife.
