Why the Hedge Came Down

Some may be wondering why the hedge alongside the car park on Thorne Road has been cut right back.

The answer is that by doing so it has opend up the car park and public toilet area to open view from the main road. This should reduce some of the unsavoury activities that take place in the car park especially during the evening time. It will also reduce the amount of commercial litter dumped in the car park.

Yes the hedge was thoroughly checked for any sign of nesting birds before the work took place. As a group supporting wildlife in the park the decision to reduce the hedge was not taken lightly but we are sure that anti-social behaviour will be reduced in this area and this will improve the safety of the park visitors during the summer.
