Island Habitat Breached

Many will have noticed that the ‘island’ in the bog garden this year was protected by masses of bullrushes and the result has been a large increase in wildlife in that area as well as many insects because of the grasses that were planted there.

Luckily most of the wildlife have had their young and moved on – because the island protection has been breached and the bulrushes broken down. Shame really because it was great to see the Coots and Moorhens scurrying about on the island.

It was good while it lasted and in the greater scheme of  things that happen in the park it is not the biggest disaster but it is a shame that just a few people decide to do this sort of thing and spoil the area for everyone – especially the wildlife.
