Volunteers don’t do it for the glory – but it’s still nice when their work is recognised.
Yesterday FoSP members attended the inaugural Love Parks awards at Nottingham held at a venue and in a style fitting of the hard work put in all over the country by volunteers in our parks and green spaces.
The Nottingham Council Hall was the venue and the day started with a conference and was topped off with an incredible awards evening funded and organised by Love Parks. Well done to the organisers. Incredible!
What was nice was being with other like minded volunteers and we were humbled by the quality and amount of volunteers work carried out by parks far and wide.
For the record the Friends of Sandall Park were short listed for three awards:
Love Your Park Award – Runners Up
Group of the Year – Outstanding Achievement Award – Runners Up
Volunteer of the Year – Commended (Wendy Barclay)
Our Congratulations go to all the groups who were nominated for awards – especially those who were succesful. Well deserved indeed.
