Christmas Message

2016 has been a big year for Sandall Park with events being ever popular like the Easter egg Hunt, Proms in the Park, Fake Festival and of course the Santa Dash. We thank everyone for supporting the park and all the events.

What people have not seen is the work that our volunteers have been doing in the background to provide a sustainable park for the future, including keeping the park and its visitors safe. Ensuring the toilets remain open, clean and stocked (a full time job in itself) has been a challenge.

Although 2016 has seen tangible changes like the Tesco funded gym equipment, behind the scenes work will enable even bigger changes to take place during 2017 with a new café and toilets as well a completely new play area.

The park also now has a stable and strong angling club which has been working hard to develop the lake and its fish stock with more plans for 2017.

Stabilising the park after years of neglect has been tough but the park and The Friends of Sandall Park are built on solid ground and with your help 2017 looks like being an important year, not just for current park visitors but for the visitors of the future.

If anyone can help us in the journey ahead you could consider joining FoSP as a New Years resolution – exciting times are ahead.

Finally, can I wish all our group members, volunteers, DMBC Partners, Sponsors and park visitors a very merry Christmas and a successful, happy and healthy 2017.

Sandra Crabtree
Chairman
Friends of Sandall Park

Quad Bike Problem – Again!

Bit of help needed please. We have another quad bike problem this time on the old Golf Course. Late evening 7.30pm -10pm. No lights, no plates , no numbers. The authorities are aware but as we know it’s a tricky one to sort……. but not impossible – with everyones help.

There is a huge danger to park users even at this time of the evening as there are plenty of evening dog walkers on the park at this time.

It would be a real shame if they crashed into a tree (honest). We’d hate a tree to be damaged!

In the first instance please ring 101 or the out of hours council response team on 01302 341628 (out of hours). You can message us but we are not the fourth emergency service. Any description would be great – they usually head off on Thorne road towards town.

We have good record of eventually catching these people so let’s do it again.
