Just when volunteers feel a bit ‘down’ after a setback in the park – the good people in the park come up trumps!
No sooner did we report the damage to the noticeboard than the Wheatley Hotel and several other individuals donated money to have the repairs carried out.
So a huge thankyou to everyone who has made a donation to repair the noticeboard.
Sort of makes it all worthwhile again……….
We’ve gone almost 7 years without any damage at all in the park – which is in itself pretty impressive – so it is a shame that we have had one of our main noticeboards damaged overnight.
It looks like the perspex has been attacked with a hammer or a powerful BB gun.
The good news is that after reporting the incident on Facebook several people have made donations for the repairs to be carried out.
It restores your faith in human nature at a time when volunteers are asking themselves “Is it worth the effort”. A huge thankyou to those who have made kind donations as well as plenty of messages of support.
Looks like it’s going to be a good show of daffs this year – they don’t grow naturally in the park…… we planted them for everyone to enjoy.
We would like everyone to show some restraint and don’t let youngsters pick them please.
Also have you noticed the plants growing alongside Thorne Road in the wooded area near the playground? These were all planted by youngsters last year on the ‘Planting with Plevey’s’ day. If your youngster took part in the day (there were a lot) take them to have a look at the results their labours………
Bouncy castles will be in the park starting Saturday 28th March.
They will be there daily (depending on the weather) for the full school holiday period.
It is planned that the bouncy castles will be in the park throughout the summer – again depending on the weather. For up-to-date information you can follow us on Facebook.
A brilliant turnout for the Community Clear up day in the park with an appearance from Rosie Winterton MP.
