Music in the Park with the Doncaster Concert Band and Alexandra the electric violinist is at 2.30pm this Sunday on the old golf course in the park.

At the moment the five day forecast is looking good so bring your chairs, tables, picnics and glass of wine to enjoy a great afternoon.

One of the few events where FoSP raises funds for itself and the park (usually we do it for others). Again at Club 39 a great night for a get together and natter and support the park at the same time. Price £2.00 p.p. and food can be purchased over the bar.

Santa Dash – Date Confirmation

At the Care to Run last Sunday the banners on show advertising the 2010 Santa Dash did say the 5th of December………….. this was just to see if everyone was paying attention – honest!

The actual date of the ever popular Santa Dash is SUNDAY 12th DECEMBER at 11am. There have been some further exciting developments with this event that we hope announce soon when things have been confirmed.

Who Was the Laydeee?

There were many sights at todays Care to Run. None more shocking than the Laydee (?) Shedding (her?) petticoat at the end of lap one………

As the sun came out it could have been much (much) worse……….. but whoever (whatever) you are are thanks for supporting the Care to Run in 2010. This event would have been a little less dazzling without you. Mwaaa!

We are sure that the brief for Ready Steady Store was not to get on stage……………..

But how could they resist the girls from Nuffield Health! We tried stop them but you know how it is …….. who could resist?

The Care to Run event went ahead because of the sponsorship by Ready Steady Store and Nuffield Health ………………….. and long may that continue!

Friends Support Aurora!

Not wishing to labour the point but this is what support for the Care to Run looks like from FoSP.

We are proud and delighted that we can put on an event like the Care to Run in Sandall Park and supply the required number of volunteers to make the event go ahead.

Not many purely volunteer groups could provide 25 volunteers to marshal the event……………………… and we are proud to support our local charity Aurora!

Our thanks go to our FoSP volunteers.

What a day! Fantastic weather, superb venue (of course) and great support from both families, the public and event sponsors.

Just a quick posting to announce the winners of the two trophy’s for the first woman and first man. There will be lots more photo’s to follow.

The first man home was Peter Andrews from Armthorpe (21 mins. 07 secs) and the first woman was Alison Straw of Wheatley (26.04). Congratulations to both.

The first boy home was Robert Bright (26.04) and the first girl was Millie Shuttleworth(27.01). Well done to everyone especially those at the tail-end. The phrase ‘medal like a dustbin lid’ was meant for you all.

Race On – Bring Your Cameras

Reminder to people coming to the Care to Run this morning – bring your cameras. Anyone wishing to help as a marshal should be at the marshals briefing on the old golf course at 09.45

As usual we will be putting together a gallery of pictures of the event and for once the weather is looking VERY good.

Run Day Weather!

It’s Care to Run tomorrow and the weather forecast is like today hotter – phew!

You can register on the day for the run/walk so it looks like it’s going to be a great time – bring the family – have a picnic and then spend the day in the park. Don’t forget the sun lotion!

All money raised is for the local cancer care charity – the Aurora Centre. Carolyn Hodgson from YTV will be here again presenting medals.

Alexandra at Music in the Park

Red hot news for the park! We can announce that the female electric violinist will appear in Sandall Park as part of the Music in the park event alongside the Doncaster Concert Band at 2.30pm Sunday 12th September .

Alexandra has played at many great venues and we are delighted that she has asked to play specifically at this event.
