The equipment is available for free use by groups and families in  the park. Please contact FOSP on 0750 332 9309 or E mail sandallpark@googlemail.com to book the equipment. All we ask is that there an adult present to take responsibility for the equipment. A good place to play is on the Old Golf course area near to the cafe end. wher a pitch has been marked out.

Unfortunately the Aurora Centre are having some problems with their web site and visitors cannot get access to it – especially to enter for the Care to Run.

Anyone wishing to enter can print off and complete the entry form below and send it to the address on the form. There has been a radical price restructuring this year and an entry is only £3 for an adult and family of four can enter for just £10. There are also plenty of entry forms in the park cafe.

The hopscotch is on the tarmac area near the old boat house and the rounders pitch is on the old gollf course near to the new entrance near the bog pond.

Remember a set of rounders equipment is available for use, free of charge, if you would like to contact us.

It will be finished off next week. We know there are some people chomping at the bit to have a go so all we can do apologise – the reasons are beyond our control.

The course will be on the tarmac area near the new grass of the old boat house. We debated long and hard about the rules but as we remember it this is how the rules go:

 The first player throws their ‘marker’ into the square 1. What ‘marker to use? Various options have been used over the years – stones, shoe polish tins, bean bags – the choice is yours.

The player then hops through all the squares, avoiding the one with the marker in, turns round at 10, hops back, picking their marker up on the return journey. You can only put one foot in one square, so when you get to 4 and 5; 7 and 8, you will have two feet on the ground.

The same player then moves onto 2 in the same manner, right through to 10. If you put a foot down, step on a line or out of a square, your opponent then has their go. If your marker misses the intended square – its your opponents turn.

You cannot put your foot down in the square with your marker in. Several players can play at the same time.

The Aurora 5km ‘Care to Run’ will have a slight change of date this year due to a clash of dates with a 10km run in Sheffield. So please note the change of date and keep an eye on this web site for further information in the coming months.

For the first time this year there will be a substantial decrease in the entry fee. Adults can enter for £3.00 and a family (two adults and two children) entry can be obtained for just £10.00

Both the Aurora Centre and ourselves agree that the changes of date an pricing will greatly increase the number of entries on the day.

The clean air is seen as essential to youngsters using the park and a government fund has been identified to provide bin/ashtrays at the entrances to the park so that those wishing to smoke can leave the park and stand on the outside pathways.

The chairman of the Friends of Sandall Park said “This ban is welcomed as it will re-enforce our commitment to keeping fit in the park”. FoSP are being considered for an award for this ground breaking healthy living green space initiative.

Well it’s on again this Thursday the Dome in the evening – but this year us old ‘uns are going are stepping down to give the young FoSP team a chance! But we will be there to support them and we hope many others will too.
