Can You Tell What It Is Yet?

Yep it’s a toilet roll and to be more exact it is one used to block the toilets up – again! Forensic analysis and DNA testing was not required.

More money has been spent on unblocking the ladies toilets (blocked by toilet rolls) than anything else. I’m sure there is a reason for this strange behaviour but the fact is if money is continually wasted unblocking the toilets they will eventually close. The council is not flush with money!

Yes the toilets have been closed all week. Yes it was certainly the busiest day of the year in the park and yes the toilets should have been open. Yes - when we were updating the notice boards we did ‘get it in the ear’ from people desperate to use the toilets. Not FoSP’s fault.

Tell the council what you think. We did contact them this afternoon and were informed someone would come down to open them up. No excuse – no one came and the toilets remained closed.

Let’s hope things improve tomorrow.

Toilets Damaged – Again

The park toilets are currently closed due to them being deliberately damaged – again. They will remain closed until repairs can be carried out.

FoSP have done all we can to keep the toilets open and the council have worked hard to make sure this key facility stays open. The writing is on the wall (no pun) if the damage continues the toilets WILL close.

Any information would be appreciated – in confidence of course.

Yes we know the toilets were closed today and yes they should have been open. We are making enquiries with the council because the toilets should be open daily from the 1st April.

Toilets Opening Daily From April

From the 1st April the toilets will be open daily throughout the summer. The approximate opening times will be from 9am to about 4pm.

Toilets Open Again

After being closed due to burst pipes following the severe frosts the toilets are now open again on weekends.

From the beginning of April through to September they will be open every day.

Weather – Toilets Still Closed

The park toilets will remain closed for now. There has been a burst water pipe in the roof space and the resulting flood has damaged the light fittings.

The pipes have been repaired but cannot be tested until all the pipes thaw and the light fittings tested. Thanks to everyone for your understanding – extreme times due to extreme weather I’m afraid.

Toilets Closed This Next Weekend

The public toilets in Sandall Park will be closed this next weekend that is the 26/27th December.

The reason for this a burst water pipe in the roof space of the toilets caused by the severe weather. An effective repair cannot be made until everything has thawed out and that will not be until after Christmas.

If everyone can show a bit of seasonal goodwill and understanding it would be great – these things happen at times.

The Toilets ARE open – On Weekends!

We keep getting comments about the park toilets NEVER being open. This is not quite true. They are open EVERY weekend during the winter (except Christmas day) and EVERY day during the summer (April to September).

We agree this is not ideal but believe us it the best we can expect at the moment and it has taken a long battle and changes in working practices by the council to get to this position.

It is not helpful that ’someone’ keeps stuffing things down the toilets and blocking them up – requiring extra expense to clear them. There is still every chance that the toilets could be closed for good and this will not be down to any lack of effort on the part of FOSP.

What a relief! After what seems like the campaign of a lifetime we can announce that it is ‘all cisterns go’ with the park toilets! They will be open in the future for all our visitors.

Can we thank everyone who has supported us with this campaign as those people realised how important is for the development of the park that the toilets stay open.

Can we also say thanks to those members of the council who, after we raised the issue, looked at things in a different way and came up with a very different solution – the end result is that the toilets are open and should stay open.

Long may this situation continue.
