We’ve had reports for a while of a Harris Hawk in the park but this is the first time we’ve had pictures.
This was in the park after the Santa Dash yesterday – our thanks to Alan McDonnell for this cracking picture taken in the wooded area where the playground is on Thorne Road.
FoSP volunteers today joined forces with the St Leger Rotary Club to plant 5,000 crocus bulbs as part of the Rotary Club ‘End Polio Now’ campaign.
Well done to everyone who turned out and made the effort. Planting five thousand bulbs is no easy task!
Great weather too and it was really nice working with the St Leger Rotary Club again.
The fountain has been ‘under the weather’ recently mainly because it gets clogged up when the water level drops.
Huge thanks then to the Sandall Park Angling Club for getting it and cleaning the filter. There you go – good as new! (To be honest it’s better than when it was new).
We are aware of a problem with the bog pond and some dead fish in the area.
We’ve had this problem before and we have previously had the water examined. Last time it turned out to be abnormal weather conditions and this is likely to be the cause again.
There is not a lot anyone can do at this time – except pray for rain!
Our little wild flower area in the park is looking pretty good at the moment.
It is situated on the sensory trail in the wooded area next to the playground. Not bad for a cheap low maintenance effort from our volunteers…… keeps the dogs off the play area too!
We have another duck on the lake with a plastic beer can holder wrapped around it’s head.
We’ve had this before and they are devil to catch. So if by chance anyone stumbles across this poor creature please do your best to grab it and remove the offending article. Thankyou.
