The FoSP is made up of volunteers local to the area who care about the local park which is a green lung of the urban community. They come from all walks of life – retired and working professionals, mums, grandmas, and schoolchildren. We welcome anyone and everyone onto our group, the more diverse the better. The group represents the local community – be a part of that community?
Meetings are held once a month and are not stuffy or very formal affairs. Everyone is encouraged to have their say and participate in discussions, and there is usually a lot to discuss. There is always something to be done in the park.
If you don’t want to attend meetings you can still volunteer at events, when there are jobs to be done in the park, or by simply picking litter up on your way through with the dog. Everyone can contribute in their own way.
Financial help is always welcome. You can join our 100 Club (with a chance to win cash prizes each month); make a donation – and if you’re eligible for Gift Aid this helps us even more; donate skills or products. Perhaps you’re a graphic designer and could design leaflets for us? A project manager who might want to undertake a grant application? An event organiser who can arrange fundraising events in the park or elsewhere. The possibilities are limitless.
On the other hand you may need experience for your CV. You could help organise events, photograph events, design a horticultural display or design leaflets all under our guidance.
If you are a business you could sponsor our calendar or Christmas cards, or an event. We will promote you on social media and in the press.
