2.30 pm Sunday 12th September 2010 on the old golf course.
The cancellation of the Proms in the Park Concert on Sunday 13th June was a huge blow to both ourselves and those who intended to attended the concert. The decision to cancel was clearly correct given that it rained heavily throughout the time the concert should have taken place.
It is therefore with great pleasure that we can announce that the Doncaster Concert Band will play again in the park on Sunday 12th September. Unfortunatley we can’t put on the full flag waving jamboree that we had planned for the earlier concert but it will still be a great occasion with music from the London shows – and again it is free to all.
All proceeds from the day will go to the Doncaster Concert Band. There will be NO on site parking for this event.

Well he’s been in the park for some time now and I bet he can’t wait until September when he can start fishing again!
I’m sure Lucan can arrange some discount for a pro member of the Anglers of Sandall Park. Again thanks to Derrick Bewell for the photo.

Our thanks to Derrick Bewell for these stunning photo’s of just two of the different water lilies on show this year.

Clearly with the time getting closer to the re-introduction of fishing into the park this site is getting more visitors looking at fishing related items.
To help fishermen sort out fishing in from other items on the site an ‘Angling’ category has been added. So just click on the category box on the right hand side and all the angling items will appear.
Also a page has been created for fishing related information – just click on AoSP (Anglers of Sandall Park) under FoSP Partners – also on the right hand side.

Someone has sent us this picture of a sign in the ladies toilets. Looking a little dated even the telephone number is a collectors item.
Question: When did the Doncaster telephone numbers change from four digit numbers?

Many will have noticed that the old boat house base has been fenced off. This is NOT to build a new boat house!
As we reported earlier the ILM team are on the case and will be digging up the old concrete in the coming weeks and then grassing it over. The area will include several fishing pegs for disabled users.
As a matter of safety we ask that everyone be aware of the work going on especially with the Playbuilders area being fairly close by.

Thanks to Keith from Armthorpe for this great picture. We just wish the lake sides were as nice now as in the photo!
Interesting to note the peninsular where everyone is picnicking – you can’t get on for Canada geese now!
Any guesses on the year anyone – genuine question as we don’t know?
You can see lots more old pictures of the park by clicking here.
