Dog fouling has always been a problem in the park but now that this particular area has been ‘opened up’ for use for fitness and picnics it is even more important that the area remains ‘clean’.

There is now no excuse for the irresponsible dog owners not to pick up after their dogs. The other thing has been that some dog owners did pick up and then chucked the plastic bag into the hedge and even hung the bags from trees!

One small point – the Safer Neighbourhood team have been issuing tickets for dog fouling and we are encouraging them to do the same in this area of the park.

We wanted the information board to include photographs of OUR equipment rather than just ‘catalogue’ pictures. A photo shoot has taken place to get the photo we wanted.

One thing became clear – the ‘models’ were not as fit they thought they were!

Six litter bins have also been installed – one for each picnic bench (when in place). The next thing is to get the picnic tables in place. The concrete bases for all the picnic benches have also been completed.

It’s going to look great – we have already noticed an huge increase in people using the old golf course area and in fact last night there appeared a full test match taking place!
