Yesterday 120 runners completed the parkrun – well done to you all!
Next week will see the 104th parkun in Sandall Park. That’s two years without missing a single weekend…. unbelievable.
So in advance our congratulations to the parkrun volunteers who have made it happen week after week after week……..
The weekly event goes from strength to strength and long may it continue.
At todays Yorkshire in Bloom Awards in York the Friends of Sandall Park were awarded not bronze, not silver and not even gold – but PLATINUM! Top of the shop!
Our thanks to Yorkshire in Bloom for the award and special thanks to all our volunteers who richly deserve the award for all the hard work they put into the park……. although we of course may a little biased!
Hopefully some photo’s of the day will follow..
151 completed yesterdays parkrun – well done to the runners and an even bigger ‘well done’ to the volunteers who make it happen for the 101st time.
A two year celebration is looming (week after next). That’s 104 consecutive runs – never missing one Saturday…. even when the weather was freezing or the park flooded! Impressive or what?
The sun is shining, no wind, conditions firm to fair – a great morning to do the parkrun – go on….. 9am start – just follow the crowd. just do it!
Or there is fitness training, or cycle training or football…………
PHEW! All the effort and loads of volunteers willing to open and clean the toilets…… and the strike is suspended!
Our thanks to the cafe staff who volunteered to open the toilets during the strike period and to all our own volunteers who were willing to put in extra time making sure the loo’s were OK.
We even had people willing to empty the park litter bins – great stuff. Thankyou and well done.
Not good news: As a result of the industrial action by some council staff over the next ten days litter bins in the park will NOT be emptied and the toilets will NOT be opened.
We are working on a plan with our volunteers to keep the toilets open if possible. We will keep you updated.
We have no capacity to sort the bins – that’s park life.
