You may recall that our bird feeder station ‘fell down’ some weeks ago.
We are delighted that our volunteers have managed to replace the bird feeders almost in the same position on a dead tree trunk opposite the wooden viewing bench in the woodland area…..
We know that the disappearance of the bird feeders was a disappointment to many but…. hey presto they are back!
Our 2016 calendars have been ordered. If you’d like one, they’ll be £5 each. (Ideal stocking fillers).
You can pay by MyDonate on our website – and send us the confirmation email that you’ve paid, Email us or send a PM and we’ll sort out payment/delivery – or you can order via your local friendly FoSP representative.
The school holidays are fast approaching, and so is our bulb planting day on the 26th.
We’ll also be doing some much needed weeding, trimming, repairing our wildlife habitats and generally giving the park an MOT. One of our most pressing jobs is to replace the bird feeder that was pushed over.
Can anyone help with this? It needs to be of wood, capable of having the nut and fat ball feeders nailed to it and needs to be sunk well into the ground to be safe. We really could do with a suitable feeder donating, and some strapping young people to dig the hole! Please do get in touch – don’t be shy.
Our busy day has been registered on the Wild About Gardens Week web site. For details of how you too can help wildlife – take a look at their web site.
The St Leger Rotary Club of Doncaster are participating in the End Polio Campaign – which among other things involves planting purple crocus to highlight the campaign.
They have donated 5,000 crocus bulbs which we (and you and your kids if you’re interested) will be planting on the old golf course. This will all be happening on Monday 26th October at 10am.
It’s in the school holidays so there’s no excuse for the kids not to be out in the fresh air and helping to make THEIR park nice. Make the effort – join us?
We are delighted to report that the 2016 Fake Festival will take place on Saturday 7th May.
One for the diary for now – but there are loads of things happening in the park between now and then………
