OK – calling all Super Sleuths…… see if you can come up with a theory on this one.
1. Yesterday we recovered more than 100 spirit bottle security tags (the type that needs a machine to be removed) dumped in the park – mostly in plastic Morrisons carrier bags. They looked new – but several were slightly damaged and there was a slight whiff of intoxicants.
2. The location was on the old golf course – near to the layby on Barnby Dun Road – at the end where the houses are.
3. About 11pm last night persons with torches were seen in the same area – as was a transit type vehicle (of course may not be connected).
The found property has been reported to the police – but we would be interested in theories as to where the security tags actually came from.
The Friends of Sandall Park Annual Report for 2015 is now available for viewing and download.
Most will be surprised at the amount of strategic work carried out by the group when all that most people expect of a ‘Friends of’ group are litter picks and the occasional event.

Someone somewhere will die by falling through the ice on a park lake in the coming weeks. It happens every year. DON’T LET IT BE HERE!
The lake is currently half frozen over and experience tells us that this is the most dangerous time – when dogs chase the wildlife and….. well, you get the picture. We’ve been here before – many times.
Please keep your dogs on a lead and your kids off the ice.
It happens every so often and it did again last night – motorbikes and a quad bikes ripping up the grass in the park.
Firstly if anyone see’s this happening (it was early evening yesterday) please ring 101 (Police) or the council Neighbourhood Response Team on 01302 341628 (out of hours) and report it. On the other hand if you know who these people are please feel free to PM us with details – we usually get a result!
These people do not travel for miles to ride round Sandall Park.
It is the Friends of Sandall Park AGM next Wednesday 20th January.
Usual time and place regular meetings – 7pm in the Sandalwood Communal Hall, Sandalwood Close, Wheatley.
Be there or be square – and try and contain your excitement!
