After the winter break the park toilets will be open from Saturday 19th March to coincide with the Easter School Holidays.
They will then be open daily until next winter.
As usual all the consumables are funded by the Friends of Sandall Park and they will be cleaned by volunteers.
Approximate opening times will be 8am to 5pm (slightly earlier on a weekend). This a a big team effort to keep the toilets open with council staff opening them in a morning and cafe staff closing them at the end of play.
We ask that the toilets be treated with respect – it is fine line between the toilets being open and closed for good and it is a campaign we have been fighting for more than eight years.
The 5000 purple crocus bulbs we planted last year are showing their pretty little heads along the new fence on the old golf course.
It’s a shame the grass is a bit long because it makes them hard to spot. Our thanks to Rotary Club St Leger for the donation of the bulbs to highlight their commitment to the End Polio campaign (purple represents the blob of ink they get on their little finger to signify that they’ve had the immunisation).
Thank you very much Costa Coffee (Wheatley)!
Not only did they do a fabulous job litter picking the park, they also donated all this litter picking kit to FoSP. We spend a lot of money on litter pickers and hoops so this is a great boost for the group.
Thank you very much Jason and team.
Yesterdays clean for the Queen was a little hampered by the weather…. so today saw Team Costa give it their best shot!
Our thanks to Team Costa Coffee on Wheatley Hall Road for their massive effort in the park today cleaning for the queen.
Brilliant job everyone!
Todays Clean for the Queen was……. well bloomin freezing!
It was intended to do a clean sweep of the park for litter but due to the snow litter was somewhat hard to find…. so our volunteers did a it of a clean up of the benches and toilets.
The good news is that any litter that was about should be collected by another team of volunteers from Costa Coffee who will be attending the park in the morning to Clean for the Queen.
Good luck on the weather guys!
Todays team was led by our own litter Queen for the day Wendy Barclay who received by our very own guard of honour….
10am this Friday (4th March) it’s Clean for the Queen in Sandall Park – looking at the forecast this will test everyones loyalty to the crown!
But we will be there cleaning for the Queen – rain or snow………
