It’s not a bad forecast for this weekend and there’s loads of things to do in the park……..
The Friends of Sandall Park are in need of some new recruits. it doesn’t have to be hours litter picking, or attending every monthly meeting – though that would be nice.
We need some younger members to join us. We are a smallish group, and our members work really hard to keep the park nice and develop it for future generations to enjoy.
But it says something when a request for volunteers goes out for painting benches and the only people to turn up are our two (very active if with restricted mobility!) eldest members who are both in their late 70’s/80’s.
Thousands of people enjoy the park each week. 25 volunteers (working with the council) are what makes it nice for those thousands. Those 25 can’t sustain the group forever.
The Fake Festival in the park was another great success and next years date is already penciled in.
The next event for us is the Proms in the Park concert featuring the Doncaster Concert Band Senior Brass Group on Sunday 26th June – 2.30pm.
This is a FREE! concert and any money raised on the day will go to the bands. Just bring your own tables, chairs, food and drink and have a great time.
The date of the May FoSP meeting will be Wednesday 25th May due to unforeseen circumstances.
Usual place and time: 7pm at Sandalwood Communal Hall of Thorne Road Wheatley.
The 2016 edition of the Sandall Park Fake Festival saw superb weather and huge crowds.
A great turnout again for this years Fake Festival with both local bands and huge tribute bands to Kings of Leon, the Foo Fighters and Queen.
Here are just a selection of the afternoons performances both inside and outside the performance area!
