The following was posted on Doncaster Parkrun’s Facebook page – we’re just glad we could help.
The following has been posted by Doncaster parkrun following the sad death of a parkrunner in our park this morning on the third birthday run.
The actions of fellow runners at the scene were remarkable. Micheal could not have been in better hands as for 50 minutes together with the ambulance crew attempts were made to resuscitate him before he was taken to DRI.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Michael’s family, friends and fellow parkrunners.
“It is with deep sadness that we have to report that local runner Michael Wakefield, a member of Doncaster Athletic Club, collapsed at Doncaster parkrun this morning. Attempts were made to resuscitate Michael by fellow runners until an ambulance arrived and further attempts were made by the ambulance crew and at DRI. Unfortunately, despite all efforts to resuscitate Michael, he passed away at 11:11am. I am sure that I speak for everyone associated with our event that our thoughts are with Michael’s family at this very sad time.”
We’ll be starting this years Santa Dash campaign shortly and yet again we’re close to having the event fully funded (ALL the money goes to the local charities).
If there are any businesses out there who wold like to join us on this years event with sponsorship – please drop us a line.
We have been hanging back with printed flyers so we can add sponsors logo’s.
Sold out for the last three years – this Dash promises to be even bigger and better.
The new Tesco fitness equipment has now been fully installed on the old golf course area.
The equipment has been funded by Tesco ‘Bags of Help‘ . Great news for the park and great news for park users.
Well done Tesco and thankyou…..
