By popular request there should be new cycle racks in the park withi two weeks, sited next to the cafe, near the football cabins and near the ice cream van on the Barnby Dun Road side.

All cycles are parked at the owners own risk.

‘Pongey Corner’ Getting Sorted.

Sometime in the next few weeks the lake will be dredged at what we call ‘Pongy Corner’ – where all the rubbish gets blown.

Please be aware that the footpath around that area will be cordoned off while the work takes place. Any queries should be directed to Doncaster Council.

Please Don’t Nick the Daffs………..

It’s THAT time of the year again. Daffs coming up nicely and some park visitors think it is ok to steal them and deprive others of the enjoyment of seeing the park at its best.

The daffodils in Sandall park are not wild – we planted them. That makes them cultivated and subject to the Theft Act. The 1981 Wildlife and Countryside Act also makes it an offence.

Do we want people prosecuting? The answer is no – there are far worse things happening in the world – but it is really disheartening to our volunteers who have been preparing the park for spring. We do though ask everyone to be reasonable and leave the flowers for others to enjoy. We actually see parents encouraging their children to take daffodils, previously we’ve also seen park daffodils on sale outside a local house. Not good at all.

Personally I blame the person who decided to put Mothers Day in the middle of the Daffodil season!

Under the 1981 Wildlife and Countryside Act, it’s illegal in the UK to:
Pick flowers in public parks or community gardens
Pick flowers on National Trust property or nature reserves
Pick flowers from roundabouts etc (which are looked after by the council)
Intentionally pick, uproot or destroy any wild plant without permission from the landowner or occupier.

Ducks Killed?

We keep getting messages from people saying men are in the park at night killing ducks and geese.

This is something that needs reporting by the people that see it – at the time. Only the witnesses know what these people look like, what they are wearing, times/dates, where they were, what they did etc.

We are not the police or the council, there is no point in us just passing messages on. Please, if you see anything untoward – report it. It can be done on-line so you don’t have to keep hanging on the phone. If it doesn’t get reported, they don’t know it’s happening. The more records there are, the more likely something will be done about it. For contact details CLICK HERE.
