Yesterday evening (Sunday) a person was seen putting plants from the park in their car.
Our thanks to the two independent witnesses who took action at the time and collected enough information to identify the person.
We are awaiting police action.
FoSP volunteers this evening witnessed three children aged 9 – 11 years trying to kick and ‘play football’ with goslings in the park. They were challenged and justified their action by saying that one of the geese tried to attack them!
They ran off but returned to carry on. Detailed descriptions of the kids have been sent to the authorities. We (FoSP) will always take appropriate action – sadly we have been here before and we will not allow a return to the bad old days.
Anyone seeing wildlife being mistreated can report it to the police on 101 or to the Neighbourhood Response Team on (daytime) 01302 385153 (after 7pm) 01302 341628.
Bad news – Good news: It is pretty stupid to smear human excrement on the walls of the gents toilets… just who does this person think is going to clean it off?
We could have locked up and gone home BUT as we finished the disgusting cleaning job we saw about 15 young pram pushing mums using the baby change facilities and toilets as they should be used – great stuff! Phew! A reminder why our volunteers do what they do……
Great support for this item on our Facebook page – thankyou.
Over the last week volunteers cleaning the toilets have had to remove soiled nappies from both the baby change facility and the disabled toilets – in spite of signs informing them that we do not have disposal facilities and a request for them to be taken home.
A request on Facebook has met with overwhelming support for our stance on this. Bizarrely two people thought it was OK to leave soiled nappies for volunteers to clear up. Not true.
The very existence of toilets in the park is on a knife-edge and we need the support of everyone to make sure they are treated with respect and remain open. Toilets facilities are key to our park development strategy.
We’ve gone almost 7 years without any damage at all in the park – which is in itself pretty impressive – so it is a shame that we have had one of our main noticeboards damaged overnight.
It looks like the perspex has been attacked with a hammer or a powerful BB gun.
The good news is that after reporting the incident on Facebook several people have made donations for the repairs to be carried out.
It restores your faith in human nature at a time when volunteers are asking themselves “Is it worth the effort”. A huge thankyou to those who have made kind donations as well as plenty of messages of support.
